Challenge

The problem we walked into.

A grocery counter is measured in seconds per basket, and its catalogue is never finished — staff meet an item nobody has entered yet most days. Software that stops the queue while someone types in a new product is software that gets abandoned by the second week.

Approach

How we framed it.

Nothing may block the queue. When staff scan something unknown they name it once and keep going; the item is sellable immediately and lands in a review list to be tidied up later, so the shop stays fast and the catalogue still stays clean.

Solution

What we shipped.

A checkout built for volume — barcode-first, fast on cheap hardware, with the same offline behaviour and compliant receipts as the rest of the family, plus a storefront for shops that sell online too.

Features
  • Barcode-first checkout tuned for seconds per basket
  • Unknown items sellable on the spot, tidied up later — the queue never stops
  • Works offline and reconciles when the connection returns
  • An online storefront for shops taking orders beyond the counter
  • Its own app on the Play Store and App Store
